This is my favorite lesson! After a year of learning about parts of the Mass and items used in the Mass, the children (and parents!) take all they have learned and “play Mass”. The children are the “altar servers”, the dads are the “priests”, and the moms are the “sacristans” (help keep things moving and take pictures).
I’m always exhausted after this class but it is a good exhaustion! The children love the Mass kits! (Yes, they are a lot of work to create but they are definitely worth the effort!) The processional crucifixes are a big hit. So are the bells! It is so good to see the Little Lambs families “playing Mass” together. Parents tell me later that they go home and “play Mass” many, many times.
